Rose L. Carty

Rose L. Carty, 97, of 28 Lana Ave. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Great Barrington on Dec. 29, 1905, daughter of Patrick and Johanna E. Cronin Larkin, she graduated in 1923 from the former Searles High School and in 1925 from the former North Adams Normal School, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Mrs. Carty taught school in Ashley Falls for two years and in Great Barrington for four years. After her marriage, she moved to Lee, where she worked at the former Towne Shop during the 1950s and 1960s. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Her husband, John J. Carty, whom she married April 25, 1932, died March 1, 1983. She leaves nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Rose L. Carty leaves her beloved nieces and nephews, Johanna Lennon Brogan, Mary Lennon Martin, William J. Lennon, Evelyn R. Larkin, Mary Ann Larkin Sullivan, Edward Bunting, Byron P. Fairbanks, Margaret Carty, Sharon Carty Terry, Deborah Carty Arvanitis, William T. Carty, Michael Coco Jr., Patricia Carty Crawford and John Carty; two sisters-in-law, Frances Faxon Carty and Corinne Delmolino Larkin; her brother-in-law, Michael Coco Sr., and her friend and loving caregiver Marilyn Frink. She was predeceased by two brothers, Edward T. and Frank J. Larkin; three sisters, Helen Larkin Bunting, Ann Larkin Fairbanks and Marion Larkin Lennon; a nephew, Joseph P. Larkin, and a niece, Nan Jane Larkin Richards. The funeral will be Friday at 10:30 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 9:30 to 10:30.
