Marjorie Gertrude DeMarco

Marjorie Gertrude DeMarco, 90, of 4 Daniels Court died Saturday morning at Williamstown Commons. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., on Sept. 2, 1912, daughter of James P. and Rose Ryan Gillooley, she moved to North Adams as a child, where she attended the former St. Joseph's Grammar School and graduated from Drury High School in 1929. She moved to Adams 20 years ago. Following graduation, Mrs. DeMarco was employed by the former New England Telephone Co. until her marriage to Ernest L. DeMarco in February 1937. Following his death on Nov. 29, 1949, she returned to the phone company. She retired in February 1976 as district manager of business services for the company's Pittsfield office. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church in North Adams, a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a former member of the Emblem Club. She leaves four sons, Lawrence E. DeMarco of Adams, James R. DeMarco of Orange, Calif., Ernest J. DeMarco of Tampa, Fla., and John R. DeMarco of Adams, with whom she made her home; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Marjorie Gertrude Gillooley DeMarco will be Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home. Survivors include grandchildren Marianne DeMarco, M.D., of Williamstown, Michael L. DeMarco of Vienna Va., Tara DeMarco of San Anselmo, Calif., and Lee DeMarco of Newport Beach, Calif., and great-grandchildren Michael and Carly Munzer of Williamstown and Benjamin DeMarco of Vienna, Va. Two sisters, Irene Dyson and Marion Rudnick, and a brother, James Gillooley, predeceased her.
