Carlton E. McCormick

Carlton E. McCormick, 72, of Park Street died Sunday at home. Born in Pittsfield on June 25, 1930, son of Jessie Drew McCormick and the late Joseph T. McCormick, he attended Stockbridge schools and the former Williams High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1948, serving for four years, two of which were during the Korean War. He was employed as a machine operator by the former Clark-Aiken Co. in Lee for 30 years. He then worked as an operator at the West Stockbridge transfer station. He was an honorary member of the Stockbridge Sportsmen's Club and a member of the West Stockbridge American Legion. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed golfing. Besides his mother, of Stockbridge, he leaves his wife of 49 years, the former Mary Ellen Farrington; three sons, Randy J. McCormick of Lee, Chad J. McCormick of Great Barrington and Scott L. McCormick of Housatonic; a daughter, Carla J. McCormick of West Stockbridge; two brothers, Thomas F. McCormick of West Stockbridge and Gilbert E. McCormick of Great Barrington; a sister, Helen M. McCormick of Stockbridge, and eight grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Carlton E. McCormick will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, at 11:30 in Stockbridge Cemetery, with the Rev. John T. Tarrant, pastor of St. Paul's Church in Stockbridge, officiating. Visiting hours will be private for the family. Friends wishing may make donations to Southern Berkshire Elderly Transportation Corp. in Great Barrington in care of KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Mr. McCormick was predeceasd by a sister, Marion E. Ellis, who died Saturday.
