Edith Phelps

Edith Phelps, 88, of 41 Stetson Ave., Plainfield, died Thursday afternoon at the Williamstown Commons Health Care Center. Born in Adams on Oct. 17, 1914, daughter of Louis and Anna Allard Smith, she attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1933. She worked for the former New England Telephone Co. for 27 years as an operator, retiring in 1975. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club. She leaves her husband, Ronald Phelps, whom she married April 28, 1941. She also leaves one son, Rich-ard Phelps of Plainfield ; two daughters, Carol Anne Dapper of Pittsfield and Linda Anne Goy-ette of North Adams; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Edith Phelps will take place Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 at 9 from the TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Notre Dame Church, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. There are no calling hours. Donations in her memory can be made to the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas or to the Alzheimer's Disease Association through the funeral home.
