Joseph Miller Jr

Joseph Miller Jr., 72, of Bradley Street died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Nashua, N.H., on Jan. 15, 1931, son of Joseph and Blanche Janis Miller, his family moved to Pittsfield when he was a child. He was a 1950 graduate of Pittsfield High School. An Army veteran, he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Following the service, Mr. Miller entered the apprentice program at the former Eaton Paper Co. in Pittsfield, where he worked for 36 years. He later worked at Canyon Ranch in Lenox for four years, retiring in 1994. A communicant of St. Mary's Church in Lee, he was a former Little League and Babe Ruth League coach. He also had bowled with the Eaton League at Ken's Bowl in Pittsfield and for Joe's Diner at Lee Lanes. His wife, the former Genevieve E. Bartlett, whom he married May 8, 1954, died June 23, 1986. He leaves a son, Joseph R. Miller of Lenox; a daughter, Debra A. Slater of Mason, Ohio; a brother, Walter Miller of Pittsfield, and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Joseph Miller leaves his beloved grandchildren, Joseph M. and Kathryn M. Miller and Daniel J. and Megan J. Slater. The funeral will be Monday at 10:30 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Mary's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Paul LaFlamme, assistant pastor. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 9 until the time of the funeral. Friends wishing may make donations to the Lenox Ambulance Squad or Lenox Parks and Recreation in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee.
