Steven A. Smith

Steven A. Smith, 45, of State Road died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in North Adams on Oct. 30, 1957, son of Richard and Alma Harrington Smith, he was a 1977 graduate of Monument Mountain High School. He enlisted in the Army and served as a power generation and wheel vehicle mechanic. He received a marksman's medal. He was employed by Sheffield Plastics Co. since 1983. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching NASCAR races. He was also an avid dart player. Besides his parents, of Housatonic, he leaves his wife, the former Theresa Woodward, whom he married Dec. 14, 1985, in Great Barrington; four brothers, Paul Smith of the town of Florida, John Smith of Housatonic, Richard Bassett of North Adams and Roger Rynkowski of Adams, and two sisters, Theresa Smith of Pownal, Vt., and Gwendolyn Rich of North Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Steven A. Smith, 45, of State Road died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003. He was with Sheffield Plastic Co. since 1983. He enjoyed fishing with his nephew, Wayne "Dude" Woodward. He was an avid dart player, and loved his time spent fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR races and cooking. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 11 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Jerry Vargo of Calvary Christian Chapel. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends tomorrow, Wednesday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
