Adolph N. Louison

Adolph N. "Duddie" Louison, 89, of 227 Franklin St. died Wednesday evening at Willowood Care Center of North Adams after a chronic illness. Born in Adams on May 9, 1911, son of Adolph P. and Minnie Giroux Louison, he attended Adams schools. An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a tech sergeant from 1942 to 1945 in the North African, Ardennes Mountains and North Italian campaigns. He was employed with GE in Pittsfield for 34 years, retiring in 1974. Before that, he was employed with the Charles Hiser Plumbing Co. of Adams for 13 years. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, the UCT Travelers Association, and the Burnette-Bednarz Veterans of Foreign Wars and Post 160 American Legion, both in Adams. He was a retired member of the Adams Alert Hose Company. He leaves his wife of 55 years, the former Rena M. Coope, whom he married Aug. 29, 1945; two daughters, Marjorie Mitchell of Gilmanton, N.H., and Jane Ross of Marco Island, Fla.; three grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. A Scriptural Reading in the Roman Catholic tradition will be offered Saturday, March 31, at 11 by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas', in MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams 01220. A visitation period from 10 to 11 for family and friends will precede the service. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. The family suggest memorials to the American Heart Association at 1111 Elm St., West Springfield, MA 01247, or through the funeral home.
