George Earl Jepson

George Earl Jepson, 88, of 513 Jepson Road died yesterday at home. Born in Stamford on July 23, 1915, son of Marshal and Grace Jones Jepson, he attended schools there. He retired in 1977 from the McMahon & Son Oil Co. in Williamstown, Mass. After retiring, he worked part-time for the Lloyd Shippee lumber yard and the Stamford Cemetery Commission. A farmer for many years, he worked at the Deck Whitney farm in Stamford. He then was employed for the Vermont Highway Department and at the former Arnold Print Works in Adams, Mass. He also was employed for a few years by the Williams College buildings and grounds department in the boiler room in Williamstown, Mass. He made maple syrup for more than 50 years, tapping more than 400 trees. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid Red Sox fan. Mr. Jepson was a member of the Stamford Community Church. He and his wife, the former Shirley Williamson, were married Oct. 15, 1955, in Stamford. Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Susan Senecal and Nancy Dargie, both of Stamford, and Gail Bailey of Clarksburg, Mass.; a sister, Wyeth Hanson of Pittsfield, Mass., and seven grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for George Earl Jepson will take place Monday at 9 at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass., followed by funeral services to celebrate Earl's life at the Stamford Community Church in Stamford, Vt., at 10 with the Rev. William Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Millard Cemetery, Stamford, Vt. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested for the Stamford Community Church through the funeral home. Survivors include three sons-in-law, Steven Senecal, Chris Dargie and Dale Bailey, and seven grandchildren, Michelle, Amy and Steven Senecal, Megan and Alex Dargie and Mekayla and Alexis Bailey. He was predeceased by a sister and a brother, Frances Jepson and Elbert Jepson.
