Richard N. Roberts, 58

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Richard Norman "Rainbow" Roberts, 58, of 105 Ashton Ave. died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on Nov. 5, 1942, son of Norman A. Roberts and the late Annette Boudreau Mattimore, he attended local schools, including the former Holy Family and former Freeman schools. He also attended Drury High School. Mr. Roberts was employed by the former Anken Chemical Co. in Williamstown and the former R.J. Widen Tannery in North Adams. He was most recently employed as a taxi driver, serving Northern Berkshire County and Southern Vermont, for many years, until retiring last summer because of ill health. He was a member of the Williamstown Community Bible Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing darts, and had competed in and won several dart tournaments in the area. He and his wife, the former Patricia Gattuso, were married Sept. 28, 1996. Besides his wife, and his father and stepmother, Clista Gardner Roberts, of Williamstown, he leaves a daughter, Kelly Garrison of North Adams; two sons, Jason Roberts Hickling of North Greenbush, N.Y., and Wade Roberts of North Adams; a stepson, Jeffrey Adams of Adams; two stepdaughters, Jill-Marie Richardson and Kristine Cahoon, both of North Adams; two sisters, Carole Roberts Foist of Pownal, Vt., and Nancy Roberts Bottesi of Williamstown; a brother, Charles F. Roberts of Williamstown; five grandchildren, and eight stepgrandchildren. Another son, Richard Roberts, died at birth and a daughter, Penny Roberts, died in 1967. FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services will take place Saturday morning at 10 from Williamstown Community Bible Church, with the Rev. Douglas Duncan, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, are Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the Williamstown Community Bible Church Building Fund through the funeral home.
