Dorothy Eileen West

Dorothy Eileen West, 80, formerly of 600 North Eagle St., died yesterday at Sweet Brook Health Care Center in Williamstown. Born in North Adams on Oct. 6, 1924, daughter of Thomas V. and Emma Pankrantz Moore, she was a 1942 graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School. In 1949, Mrs. West and her husband, Edward Joseph West, established West Oil Co. in Clarksburg. They later moved the business to North Adams, operating it until retiring and selling the business to their sons in 1984. Mrs. West was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams from 1942 to 1947. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a former communicant of St. Francis' and Our Lady of the Incarnation churches, all in North Adams. She and her husband were married May 25, 1947, in St. Francis Church. He died July 24, 1997. She leaves a daughter, Christine Mary West of Wakefield; two sons, Edward Thomas "Joe" West and Robert Paul West, both of Stamford, Vt., and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Dorothy Eileen (Moore) West will be Thursday, June 23, 2005, at 9:45 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA FUNERAL HOMES, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 5 to 8. Memorial donations are suggested for the Alzheimers' Association through the funeral home. Survivors include three grandchildren, Rebecca Kramer, Sarah West and Joseph West; a daughter-in-law, Ann West, and a son-in-law, Thomas "Jack" Potts III. Her brother, former North Adams Police Sgt. Thomas Moore, died in 1998, and two sisters, Marguerite Schilling and Mary McKeon Trilling, died in 1994 and 2000, respectively.
