Margaret Ada Davis

Margaret Ada Davis, 100, of Hernando Beach, Fla. died Monday at the home of her daughter, Carole Sinclair, with whom she had lived with since 2002. Born in New York City, Nov. 28, 1904, daughter of Herbert and Bettina Gabauer Smith she was a resident of the Ashley Falls section of Sheffield for 30 years after retiring from Cleworth Publishing Co. in Cos Cob, Conn. In Florida, she attended Catholic Charities' Respite Program twice a week, where she enjoyed singing, crafts, games and local entertainment. While living in Ashley Falls, she was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Sheffield, where she sang in the choir and served in the altar guild. Mrs. Davis also spent many hours sewing patch quilts, which were raffled off at church fairs. She made and donated 1,000 walker bags to local nursing homes and hospitals, and volunteered at a disabled children's home for 10 years under Nancy Regan's Foster Grandmother program. She was predeceased by three husbands, Victor Tanga, LeRoy E. Davis Sr. and George R. Vogel. Besides her daughter, she leaves six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Doris Brower, and a grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Friends will be received Monday, June 27, 2005, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, with services being held at Christ Episcopal Church in Sheffield at 11 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford, Conn. Services are entrusted to BREWER & SONS FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATION SERVICES. Survivors include six grandchildren, Arthur St. Cyr of San Diego, Calif., Deborah Hallaman and her husband Gary of Stratford, Okla.; Robert Sinclair of Creigton, Saskatchewan; Micael Sinclair and his wife Rosie of Cookstown, Canada, and Allison Cooney and her husband Christopher of Weeki Wachee, Fla., and a son-in-law, Harry Brower of Stratford, Okla. She was predeceased by a grandchild, William E. Brower.
