William David "Bottle Bill" Bopp

William David "Bottle Bill" Bopp, 88, of 28 Sparrow Drive, a longtime resident of Pownal died Sunday at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in Schenectady, N.Y., on Feb. 3, 1916, son of William P. and Louise Caroline Smith Bopp, he attended schools there. In 1975, Mr. Bopp moved to Pownal to live with the Parizo family and later moved to Stamford to live with the Parizo and Smith families. An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a private first class in the Pacific theater. He was employed by GE in Schenectady as a custodian for most of his life. He was a member of American Legion Post 90 in Pownal. He leaves two sisters, Margaret Luther of Schenectady and Kate Shaw of Atlanta. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside services for William David "Bottle Bill" Bopp will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the family plot in Parklawn Cemetery, Bennington, Vt. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. A reception will follow at the home of Mari Parizo on Route 346 Pownal, Vt. Survivors include his friends and adopted family Evelyn Parizo; Mari Parizo and children Christopher, Kevin and Marc Drayton; Kristine Roy and her child, Morgan Roy; Alison Parizo and her husband, Don; LauraLee Smith and her husband, Scott, and their children, Robbie, Chase, Nick, Derek and Brittany Smith.
