Anna M. Hish Filip

Anna M. Hish Filip, 85, of East Walnut Street, died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on Sept. 7, 1919, daughter of Michael and Mary Pola Gadek, she moved to Adams as an infant with her family, and attended schools there. She was last employed at the former Cornish Wire plant in Williamstown, retiring in 1981. Mrs. Filip worked at the former Berkshire Hathaway Co. for several years, until the mill closed in 1957. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing. She and her first husband, Stanley Hish, were married on Nov. 28, 1940. He died on Nov. 28, 1945. She married Frederick Filip on Oct. 7, 1950. He died Jan. 21, 1997. She leaves two daughters, Mary Ann Hish and Elizabeth King, both of Adams; a sister, Sophie Kumiega of Taftville, Conn., two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Anna Mary Hish Filip, who died June 28, 2005, will be held on Thursday, June 30, at 11:30 a.m. from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Council on Aging, Village Ambulance Service of Williamstown, or Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home. Survivors include a son-in-law, Richard King of Adams; two granddaughters, Laurie McDonald of South Deerfield and Christine Sayers of Columbia, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica and Matthew Markland, and Kaylee and Dylan Sayers; a sister-in-law, Alice Filip of Holyoke; a cousin, Sophie Tarsa of Adams; and several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by five brothers, Theodore, Frank, John, Joseph and Ernest Gadek. She especially enjoyed her family and her home.
