Monique Lavigne

Monique Lavigne, 54, of 26 Bellevue Ave. died Sunday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in North Adams on Sept. 12, 1950, daughter of Leo and Yvette Caron Chouinard, she attended schools there. She also attended the former Lebarron's Hairdressing School in Pittsfield. Mrs. Lavigne was the co-owner of the former M & M Fashion Fair Hair Styling Salon in Dalton for many years until the business was sold. She then worked at the J.C. Penney Hair Salon at the Berkshire Mall for 18 years, retiring in 2004. She continued to work part-time for the Shear Style Salon in Dalton. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St.Thomas. She enjoyed flowers. She and her husband, Leo Lavigne, were married Oct. 19, 1968. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Christopher Lavigne of Concord, N.C.; two daughters, Melissa Lavigne and Michele Lavigne, both of Adams; two sisters, Claudette Michael of Margate, Fla., and Collette Buda of Lee, and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private services for Monique Lavigne will take place Friday, July 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. from the TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., with the Rev. David Raymond, pastor of St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Cheshire, officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the funeral home. She leaves a granddaughter, Alicia Lavigne. She was predeceased by her brother, Claud Chouinard.
