Emile John Satko

Emile John Satko, 86, of 22 Thompson St. died Monday evening at home. Born in Adams on April 11, 1919, son of Jozef and Tekla Grzebien Satko, he was a 1937 graduate of the former Adams High School. He also graduated from the Coyne Electrical School in Chicago in 1938. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 237th Signal Service Company in the European theater from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. Mr. Satko worked as a winder in the power transformer division of GE in Pittsfield for 41 years, retiring in January 1981. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church. He and his wife of 56 years, the former Mary A. Mroz, were married July 30, 1949. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, James E. Satko of Westford, and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Emile Satko will be Thursday, June 14, at 11:30 from the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:30 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 25 Hoosac St., celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. He leaves his daughter-in-law, Mary Satko, and his granddaughter, Katie Satko. He was predeceased by three brothers, Eugene, Joseph and Alfred "Bonnie" Satko; and by five sisters, Julia Kwasnicke, Cecelia George, Mildred Shanahan, Veronica Pieri and Stacia Satko.
