Daniel T. Woolfe

Daniel T. Woolfe, 86, of Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Otis, died Wednesday at home in St. Andrew's Estates. He had a summer home in Otis Woodlands for the last 24 years. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sept. 28, 1918, son of Jacob and Kate Ruderman Woolfe, he was a graduate of schools there. He received his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Columbia University in 1943. Dr. Woolfe owned and operated the Peekskill (N.Y.) Animal Hospital for 50 years, retiring in 1995. He was a past president of the Lakeland Board of Education, and served as a member from 1957 to 1970. He was also a member of the AVMA and N.Y. State Veterinary Associations, the Northern Westchester (N.Y.) Symphony Orchestra and the Peekskill Lions Club. He was a member and past president of the Westchester-Rockland Veterinary Association. He and his wife of 60 years, the former Ruth Magid, were married March 25, 1945. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Lorin Woolfe of Somers, N.Y., and Kenneth "Ken" Woolfe of Oakland; a daughter, Carole Woolfe of Cambridge; a sister, Shirley Woolfe Rosenblum of Concord, Calif., and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Daniel T. Woolfe will be Sunday, July 17, 2005 at 11 at Temple Israel of Northern Westchester, Glengary Road, Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., followed by interment at Sharon Gardens, Valhalla, N.Y. Arrangements are by the E.O. CURRY FUNERAL HOME, Peekskill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Daniel T. Woolfe Memorial Fund, College of Veterinary Medicine, c/o Office of Alumni Affairs & Development, P.O. Box 728, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14851. He leaves daughters-in-law, Judyth and Bobbe, and grandchildren, Rebecca, Talia and Alexandra. His sister, Lillian Woolfe Straus, predeceased him.
