Rachel Y. Rodowicz

Rachel Y. Rodowicz, 86, of 204 East Road died yesterday at North Adams Commons in North Adams. Born in Adams on Oct. 26, 1918, daughter of Henry and Lillian Morin Paré, she attended local schools. Mrs. Rodowicz was employed in the drapery department of the former Waverly Fabrics for several years, retiring in 1980. She had previously worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates and at the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. in North Adams. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a longtime member and past regent for several terms of Court Sancta Regina 904 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Adams. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, baking and walking. She and her husband, Adolph S. Rodowicz, were married Nov. 28, 1940. He died Nov. 14, 2000. She leaves two daughters, Cynthia Robinson of Adams and Beverly Jobert of Bluffton, S.C.; two sisters, Rita Gajda of Cheshire and Viola Reeves of North Adams; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rachel Y. Rodowicz, who died July 17, 2005, will be Wednesday, July 20, at 9 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, the Parkinson's Association or to any charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home. Survivors include three grandchildren, Laurie Carpenter and Bryan Robinson, both of Adams, and Steven Robinson of Pittsfield; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jordyn Carpenter, both of Adams, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Henry Paré.
