Nancy Ellen Kelson

Nancy Ellen Kelson, 74, of 61 West Mountain Road died Monday afternoon, July 18, at home. Born in Cheshire on Sept. 25, 1930, daughter of Wesley C. and Ruth M. Davis Kelson, she was a graduate of the former Adams High School. She also was a graduate of LaSalle Beauty School in New Orleans, La. Ms. Kelson was the owner and operator of the former Beechwood Rest Home in Cheshire from 1964 until her retirement in 1984. Upon her retirement, she ran an adult foster care program in her home until this year. Earlier, from 1950 until 1954, she was a telephone operator for the Adams Exchange. She was a former member of the Cheshire Baptist Church and a volunteer for its Baptist Youth Fellowship Group and a former member of its Women's League. She was a member and past matron of the Order of Eastern Star Franklin Chapter 92. She enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to Foxwoods, and her pets. She leaves her adopted daughter and caregiver, Barbara A. Pucko of Cheshire, with whom she resided. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Nancy E. Kelson who died July 18, 2005, will be held Thursday at 11 at the United Methodist Church of Cheshire with the Rev. Warren Scamman, Rev. Linda Shaw, Rev. William D. Furey, Rev. Levi Davenport and Rev. David Raymond, all officiating. Burial will follow in the Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Wednesday, from 5 to 8 at DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers memorials donations may be made to the Cheshire Fire Dept. or to HospiceCare of the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home. An Eastern Star service will be held at the funeral home today at 7:30 p.m. Nancy is lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews and by her beloved pets, Tigger and Moses. She was predeceased by three brothers, Calvin, Carlisle and Milton Kelson, and by a sister, Lura Lepecier.
