Rita C. Pandell

Rita C. Pandell, 85, formerly of 85 Windsor Road, died Monday, July 18, at Kimball Farms in Lenox after a long illness. Born in Lanesborough on June 10, 1920, daughter of Charles and Delina A. Gilbert Carity, she was educated in schools there. Mrs. Pandell was employed by the former Eaton Paper Co. as an inspector, retiring in 1985 after 32 years of service. She was a longtime communicant of the former Notre Dame Church. She was a former Sweet Adeline in Pittsfield in the 1950s, and had performed many singing venues in the area for more than 10 years. She enjoyed tag sales, fishing and arts and crafts. Her husband, Karl R. Pandell, whom she married Oct. 19, 1963 in St. Joseph's Church, died May 19, 1969. She leaves her caretaker and longtime friend, BillGlander of Pittsfield; two stepsons, Norman Pandell of Cheshire and Calvin Pandell of Hickory, N.C. and three stepdaughters, Ruth Johnson of San Diego, Calif., Lois Nangle of Arlington, Va., and Doris Miller of Hickory, Calif. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Rita C. Pandell, 85, was called safely home on July 18, 2005. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 9 in St. Joseph's Church with the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, as celebrant. The burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in the Carity family lot. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, which has been entrusted with the arrangements. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dora Nagelschmidt and Aurelia Carity.
