Eleanor Brown

Eleanor Brown, 90, a resident of Sweetwood, died Thursday at her residence following a long illness. Born Oct. 19, 1914, she was the only child of Albert and Lillian Hiltensmith Schalkenbach. She and her husband married in 1941 and moved to Toronto, where they lived until she moved to Sweetwood in July of 1995. Mrs. Brown was employed by the Robert Simpson Co. in Canada, where she was a well-known interior decorator. She also taught and lectured there. An accomplished sculptor and painter, she was a life member of Canadian Interior Design. Her husband, Leonard Brown, died in 1975. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Eleanor Brown, 90, died July 28, 2005. A memorial reception will be held at Sweetwood on Friday, August 12, from 3 to 5 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of GEORGE M. HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown, MA 01267. Survivors include several cousins, nieces and nephews.
