Katherine E. Heywood Magdalenski

Katherine E. Heywood Magdalenski, 95, of 6 Smith St. died early yesterday morning at Williamstown Commons. Born in Adams on Sept. 12, 1909, daughter of Anthony and Mary Gebarowski Godek, she attended St. Stanislaus' School. Mrs. Magdalenski was employed by the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates and later worked as a domestic for several Adams families. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality, and a member of the Adams Senior Citizens. Her first husband, John Heywood, whom she married June 3, 1936, died April 27, 1941. Her husband, William Magdalenski, whom she married Feb. 2, 1946, died May 14, 1972. She leaves a daughter, Barbara Bednarz of Adams; a son, Martin Magdalenski of Grand Junction, Colo.; five grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Katherine Godek Heywood Magdalenski, 95, will be Thursday, Aug. 11, at 9:30 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 at the funeral home. Members of St. Stanislaus' Rosary Sodality will meet at St. Stanislaus' Church on Thursday morning at 9:45 to attend the Mass. Memorial donations may be made to the St. John Kanty Scholarship Fund at St. Stanislaus' Church or to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, through the funeral home. She leaves five grandchildren, Julie Russell of Jefferson, Brenda Skalski and John Bednarz, both of Adams, Jennifer Quinn of Webster and Vicki Shipley of Fort Hood, Texas. She was predeceased by two brothers, Alojzy "Floyd" Godek and Boleslaw Godek, and by four sisters, Helen Godek, Sophie Wanat, Amelia Gladu and Angela Soha.
