Arthur G. Wolfe

Arthur G. Wolfe, 90, of 4 Furnace Road, formerly of 565 Marble St. in Lee, died yesterday at the Soldiers Home of Holyoke, where he had resided since March. Born in New York City on Feb. 6, 1915, son of David and Emily Farrell Wolfe, he was a graduate of Leonard High School in New Jersey. An Army veteran of World War II, he served from November 1942 to Dec. 12, 1945. After moving to Lee in 1952, Mr. Wolfe was employed as an insurance agent for John Hancock Life Insurance Co., retiring in 1977 after 26 years of service. Earlier, after the war, he had returned to New York City and worked in the trucking business. He moved to Sandisfield in 1948 and was a captain in the New Boston Fire Department. He was a charter member of American Legion Post 456 in New Boston. While in Lee, he was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club and a member for 33 years and a former member of the Greenock Country Club. His wife, the former Anna M. Price, whom he married Sept. 28, 1941, died Nov. 12, 1992. He leaves two daughters, Patricia A. Goodfellow of Lee and Eileen Czaja of Stockbridge, nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Jeanne Murray, died in 1995. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Arthur G. Wolfe will be Monday at 9:15 from the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. He was predeceased by a brother, David Wolfe.
