Barbara K. Bourquard

Barbara K. Bourquard, 74, of 340 Laurel St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 23, 1930, daughter of John J. and Mary Cowhig Kelly, she was a graduate of St. Mary's School and a 1948 graduate of Lee High School. She also attended St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Conn. Mrs. Bourquard was employed by the Registry of Deeds in Pittsfield during the 1950s and 1960s and was a former teachers' aide at St. Mary's School in Lee. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of its former St. Mary-St. Martha Sodality. In 1975, she helped establish the parish's bingo game at the school to help offset tuition costs. She worked at the bingo games until 1999. She and her husband, Francis W. Bourquard, were married in June 1960. He died this year on Feb. 11. She leaves a daughter, Kelly M. Koperek of Lee; two sons, William F. Bourquard of Lee and John E. Bourquard of Indianapolis; a brother, John J. "Jack" Kelly of Lee, and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Barbara K. Bourquard will be Saturday morning at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the St. Mary's School Library Fund or to Down Syndrome Resource Group of Western Mass, c/o the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Barb leaves her three grandchildren, Michael and Sean Koperek, and Jack Bourquard. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Jack in 1933 and Michael J. Kelly in 1964.
