Peter J. Griffin

Peter J. Griffin, 54, of 299 Flanders Road, East Lyme, Conn., formerly of Housatonic, died of natural causes Saturday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn. Born in Pittsfield on May 31, 1951, son of John Griffin and the late Mary Shea Griffin, he attended schools in Housatonic and was a 1969 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School. Mr. Griffin was a chef at Crescent Point, a retirement community in Niantic, Conn., from 2000 until the time of his death. He served in the Marine Corps. Besides his father, of Plaistown, N.H., he leaves his twin brother, Timothy E. Griffin of Plano, Texas, and six sisters, Karen Beckwith of Housatonic, Susan Santora of Great Barrington, Patricia Griffin of Groveland, Mary Shea of Haverhill, Ellen Rice of Boxford and Katie Griffin of Nottingham, N.H. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Peter J. Griffin, who died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, will be conducted Friday, Aug. 26, at noon at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Anthony Jutt, pastor of All Saints' and Corpus Christi churches in Housatonic. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Housatonic. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 until the time of the service. Expressions of sympathy in Peter's memory may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Survivors include a niece, Shannon Rice, and four nephews, Paul Hazzard, Daniel Griffin, Ian Shea and Justin Rice, and his companion, Pam Martell of East Lyme.
