Leona Lillian Ethier

Leona Lillian Ethier, 90, of 4 Columbia St. died early yesterday morning at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown. Born in North Adams on July 8, 1915, daughter of Zotique and Angelina Gauthier Ethier, she attended the former Notre Dame and Holy Family Elementary schools in North Adams, and graduated from the former St. Anne's Academy in Marlborough. She lived in North Adams until moving to Adams in 1983. Miss Ethier last worked as an office clerk at the former Arnold Print Works in Adams for 11 years, retiring in 1980. Earlier, she had worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams and the former Aiken Chemical Co. in Adams. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas, Adams. She was a member of the Notre Dame Ladies of St. Anne, and she was a former member the Notre Dame choir. She leaves two nieces and two nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Ms. Leona Ethier will be Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 9:30 from the AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 8:30 to 9:30 at the funeral home. She leaves two nieces, Marie Kanelos and Theresa Kiel, both of North Adams, and two nephews, William Provost of Adams and Robert Provost of Parrish, Fla., and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
