Hilda Mae Farnum

Hilda Mae Farnum, 80, of 55 Sheffield Road died yesterday at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. Born in Great Barrington on May 1, 1925, daughter of Arthur and Hazel Connors Duryea, she was a 1953 graduate of the former Searles High School. Mrs. Farnum was an independent landscaper. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and swimming. She and her husband, Stanley Farnum, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary May 13. Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Timothy Farnum of Great Barrington, Steven Farnum of Elko, Nev., and Lane Farnum of Egremont; seven daughters, Lynn Nemec, Kyle Miller and Sally Bailey, all of Great Barrington, Laurie Flynn, Karen Dube and Heidi Farnum, all of Sheffield, and Joyce Bassett of Ashley Falls; two brothers, Theodore Duryea of South Egremont and Arthur Duryea of Egremont; a sister, Yvonne "Bonnie" Kosik of Great Barrington; 18 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Christine Farnum, died Oct. 25, 1969. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Graveside Service for Hilda Mae Farnum, who died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, will be conducted Friday, Sept. 9, at Hillside Cemetery, North Egremont, by the Rev. Harry Almond. There will be no calling hours. BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, 01230, is in charge of arrangements. She was also predeceased by a grandson, Christopher Farnum, on July 1, 2001.
