Lawrence R. Keefe

Lawrence R. Keefe, 89, formerly of 50 1/2 Melrose St., died Friday at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in Adams on Nov. 11, 1915, son of Patrick and Virginia M. Wing Keefe, he was a 1933 graduate of the former Adams High School. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he served from 1943 to 1946 and earned the rank of corporal. Mr. Keefe was employed as a security guard at GE, retiring in 1978. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame - St. Thomas. He was a life member of 55 years of the Adams Lodge of Elks 1335 and a member of the Adams Post 160 of the American Legion. His wife, the former Rita Marie Isabelle, whom he married July 27, 1942, died June 9, 1998. He leaves his nephew and caregiver, Michael Duda of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Lawrence R. Keefe will take place Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005 at 9 from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Notre Dame Church, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Community of Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8, with the Adams Lodge of Elks conducting its Fraternal Ritual at 6. Memorial donations may be made to the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas through the funeral home. He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Madeline Duda and Margaret Chittenden, both of Adams. A brother, Patrick Keefe, and two sisters, Mildred M. Tanguay and Florence Knabe, are deceased.
