Leona Marie Pero, 81, of Starbrooke Drive, Newton, N.C., died Saturday at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born in Adams on Nov. 16, 1923, daughter of Amedee Joseph and Mary Louise Lemieux Daignault, she was educated there. Mrs. Pero was a homemaker. Her husband, Edward Frederick Pero, is deceased. She leaves two sons, Armand E. Pero of Cummings, Ga., and Paul Dennis Pero of Newton, three grandchildren and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Leona Marie Pero will be today, Sept. 7, 2005 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church ELCA in Startown. The Pastor Chris Christopher will officiate. The family requests that memorials be made to Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658 or to your local Humane Society.
