Lillian P. LaRose

Lillian P. LaRose, 78, of Randolph, Vt., a former resident of Great Barrington, died Sunday at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Born in Hartland, Vt., on Feb. 15, 1827, daughter of Ernest and Gertrude Shepard Small, she was educated there. She had resided in Great Barrington from 1952 until moving to Randolph in 1991. Mrs. LaRose was a homemaker. She was a member of Randolph Baptist Fellowship and enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, and writing children's stories and poetry. Her husband, William L. LaRose Sr., whom she married July 13, 1955, in Stockbridge, died in 1998. She leaves three sons, William LaRose Jr. of Great Barrington, Ernie LaRose of Rutland, Vt., and Donald Hill of Pittsfield; eight daughters, Artie Button of Swanton, Vt., Mary Eldridge of Idaho, Donna Yetz of Randolph, Gloria LaRose and PamBroskey, both of West Rutland, Vt., Dee Richard of Palm Coast, Fla., Jan Blake of Keene, N.H., and Beverly Race of Great Barrington; two brothers, Sumner Small of Randolph and Fred Small of Randolph Center, Vt.; 18 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Lillian P. LaRose will be conducted tomorrow, Sept. 14, at 10:30 at DAY FUNERAL HOME in Randolph, Vt., by Pastor Eugene Williams. Calling hours will be today, Sept. 13, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be Thursday at 1:30 at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington.
