Alice Cora Fox

Alice Cora Fox, 86, of 610 Laurel St., formerly of 84 Sheffield St., Pittsfield, died Sunday at Laurel Lake Center. Born in Countess, Alberta, Canada, on Aug. 3, 1919, daughter of Joseph and Alexina Duclos Ouellette, she moved to Pittsfield as a child and was educated in local schools, including the former Berkshire Business College. Mrs. Fox was employed by Berkshire Woolen Mills in Pittsfield until her marriage to Gerald Fox in 1944. In 1958, she and the late Arthur Tinney opened Drapery World in Pittsfield. She retired from there in 1979 and moved to Harlingen, Texas. After her husband's death in 2003, she moved to Lee. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the National Quota Club. She leaves a daughter, Lorraine Fox Jahn of Lee; a brother, Leo N. Ouellette of Pittsfield; two sisters, G. Jeanne Maher of Denver and Dorothy Fannon of Los Angeles, and two granddaughters. She was predeceased by her sons, John C. Fox and Daniel J. Fox. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Alice C. Fox will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no visiting hours. Friends wishing may make donations to the Elizabeth Freeman Center at 43 Francis Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. KELLY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Fox leaves two granddaughters, Sarah Jahn and Lisa Jahn Oberle, and her son-in-law, Peter Jahn.
