Ralph E. Gleason

Ralph E. Gleason, 95, of 367 West Center Road died Sunday at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Great Barrington. Born in Durham, Maine, on May 29, 1910, son of Ralph and Christine Marple Gleason, he was educated in schools in Lincoln, Maine. He moved to Otis in 1991. He served in the Navy Reserve from 1929 to 1941. In 1954, Mr. Gleason moved to Rockland, where he was employed as a tool and die maker for Richards Micro Tool Co. in Plymouth, retiring in 1975. In 1928, he moved to Lynn, where he joined the GE apprentice program and worked for a number of years. His wife, the former Hazel E. Gosse, whom he married Aug. 6, 1930, died July 3, 1996. He leaves a son, Ralph E. Gleason Sr. of Otis; two daughters, Barbara L. Clayton of Otis and Lois M. Grundstrom of Hot Springs, S.D.; a brother, the Rev. Carlton Gleason of Kenya, Africa; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Ralph E. Gleason will be conducted Thursday at 10 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee by Pastor Douglas J. Foss and Mr. Wesley A. Ross, associate pastor of Hope Advent Christian Church in Lenox. Burial will follow in Otis Cemetery. Visiting hours will be tomorrow, Sept. 28, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Upper Room Fellowship Inc. for the Segera Mission of Kenya, Africa, in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
