Bernard Charles Schneider

Bernard Charles Schneider, 73, of 9 Elm St. died early yesterday morning at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in Adams on Oct. 9, 1932, son of Joseph and Antonia Wabnig Schneider, he was a graduate of the former Adams High School. In 1961, Mr. Schneider founded Greylock Electric, which he operated until 1998, when he became a consultant for the business. He was an apprentice electrician for his father at the former Schneider Electric until obtaining his master electrician's license at the age of 22. At the time, he was the youngest master electrician in the state. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas Aquinas and a member of the Berkshire Lodge of Masons, the Berkshire Shrine Club and the Berkshire County Sheriff's Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and his wife, the former Carol A. Brodeur, would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary Oct. 23. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Ronald M. Schneider of North Adams and Michael D. Schneider of Adams; two daughters, Katherine J. Clark of North Adams and Lynn M. Love of Adams; two brothers, Harold Schneider of Merrimack, N.H., and Joseph Schneider of Deltona, Fla.; two sisters, Marlene Clarke of Rockland, Ill., and Marie Thurman of Clearwater, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Bernard C. Schneider will be Saturday at 11 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon at Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
