Joan Patricia Anton, 73, of 183 Eagle St. died Wednesday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on April 30, 1932, daughter of Arthur and Agnes Cowhey Gallese, she attended Drury High School. Mrs. Anton was employed as a dispatcher in the security department at Williams College for 10 years. She also worked at the former Sprague Electric Co., and as a waitress at the 1896 House Restaurant in Williamstown and at the former Jaeger House Restaurant in Pownal, Vt., for m any years. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church. Her husband, Arthur Henry Anton, whom she married Nov. 29, 1952, died May 18, 1987. She leaves three daughters, Patricia Groves of Pownal, Vt., and Colleen Alicea and Lori Anton-Emerson, both of North Adams; two brothers, Donald Gallese of Los Angeles and John Gallese of Holyoke; a sister, Kathy Vega of Holyoke, and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Joan Patricia (Gallese) Anton will be Saturday at noon at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, North Adams Regional Hospital, Village Ambulance or the North Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home. She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Gallese Jr., and by two grandchildren, Riane Alicea and Amber Groves, who died in infancy.
