George Herbert Epps

George Herbert Epps, 80, of 331 Bradley St. died Friday morning at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. Born in Belton, S.C., on July 26, 1925, son of George and Myra Ingram Epps, he was educated in schools there. He moved to Lee in the 1960s. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a prisoner of war in Germany. Mr. Epps was a heavy equipment operator for the Massachusetts Highway Department, retiring in 1990 with 25 years of service. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He and his wife, the former Evelyn M. Crane, were married July 16, 1972. She died March 6, 2005. He leaves a son, Brian G. Epps of Lee; two brothers, Joseph Epps and Vernon Epps, both of Belton, S.C., and four sisters, Dorothy Chapman, Frances Watson and Leatrice Garret, all of Belton, S.C., and Nellie Quinn of Dalton. FUNERAL NOTICE -- There will be no funeral for George H. Epps. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME.
