Elva Mae Henry

Elva Mae Henry, 96, of Whitehall Estate, 790 Falmouth Road, Hyannis, formerly of 230 State Road, died Friday evening at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. Born in Schaghticoke, N.Y., on Jan. 23, 1909, daughter of William and Dora Phillips Burdick, she attended Schaghticoke schools and graduated in 1927 from State University of New York at Cobleskill. Mrs. Henry was a homemaker. A member of First Baptist Church since 1936, she served on various committees and taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the Monday Club and served on many of its committees. She and her husband, A. Lucius Henry, were married Nov. 27, 1935. He died Jan. 7, 1987. She leaves two sons, Sherman M. Henry of South Yarmouth and Robert L. Henry of Vernon, Conn.; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Elva Mae Henry will be conducted Saturday at 10 at First Baptist Church in North Adams by the Rev. Joseph DeCosta, pastor, and the Rev. Dr. Carl Heick. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Education Program through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247. She also leaves four grandchildren, Hally Whalen, Tod Henry, Jennifer Weaver and Melissa Granfield, and a niece, Ruth Schaffer of Fairhaven. She was predeceased by her brother, Floyd Burdick.
