John P. Magner

John P. Magner, 68, of 5 Maple St. died Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on June 28, 1937, son of Charles and Helen Ring Magner, he was a 1955 graduate of the former Williams High School in Great Barrington. He graduated from Berkshire Community College and attended the University of Massachusetts. Mr. Magner was a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in West Stockbridge and Canaan, N.Y. He and his wife, the former Joyce Garrett, were married May 4, 1965 in New Lebanon, N.Y. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Kathleen Gennari of Lewisville, Texas; two sons, Timothy Magner of Austerlitz, N.Y., and Sean Magner of West Stockbridge; a brother, James Magner of Richmond; a sister, Helen Osterhout of West Stockbridge, and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- John P. Magner died in Pittsfield on Nov. 16, 2005. At his request there will be no funeral services. He wanted to express a cheerful farewell and sincere thanks to all. John, an easygoing, natural people-person whose greatest joy was spending time with his many friends, leaves behind grandchildren Timothy, Sarah and Megan Magner, and Angelo III, Julie and John Gennari, daughter-in-law Jodi Magner, and son-in-law Angelo Gennari Jr. He is predeceased by a sister, Maureen Piatkowski.
