John B. Moro Sr.

John B. Moro Sr., 88, of 148 Maple Ave., died yesterday at Fairview Hospital. He was formerly of Hart Street, Housatonic. Born in Great Barrington on Dec. 23, 1916, son of Andrew and Martha Bona Moro, he attended local schools. Mr. Moro was employed for over 20 years at the former Dresser Products (now Nuclear Components). Previously he worked on the Lawrence Barbieri Farm and was a driver for the former Ben's Canteen Service. He played in the pitch league at the former Macano Inn in Housatonic and in the Alford Pitch League. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and attending Selectmen meetings. He was predeceased by his first wife, Laura Moro. He and his second wife, the former Edith Winters, were married Sept. 26, 1947. She died April 20, 1994. He leaves two sons, John Moro Jr. of Copake, N.Y., and William E. Moro of Great Barrington; three daughters, Ellen N. Finkle of Great Barrington, Bonnie Lynn Davis of Hudson, N.Y., and Martha Lester of Phoenix; a brother, Pio Moro of Great Barrington, 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for John B. Moro Sr., who died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, will be Thursday at 11 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, celebrated by the Rev. Charles Van Ausdal. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He was predeceased by a brother, Berter Moro, and two sisters, Katherine Simpson and Ann Pipa.
