Leta I. Busby, 87, of 4 Balwin Hill, South Egremont, formerly of Kirk Street, Housatonic, died Monday at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. Born in New Ashford on Oct. 13, 1918, daughter of Frederick and Edna Frye Sherman, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. She moved to Housatonic after high school and to South Egremont in 1993. Mrs. Busby was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and reading. Her husband, Thomas Busby Sr., whom she married in 1939, died Aug. 19, 1972. She leaves a son, Robert Busby of South Egremont, with whom she lived; four step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Another son, Thomas Busby Jr., died October 1999. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Leta I. Busby, who died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, will be Friday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Steven Edmiston officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery, Housatonic. A visitation will precede the funeral from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Leta's memory may be made to the Southern Berkshire Elderly Transportation Co. in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Rosalie; step-grandchildren, Tina Martin, Patricia Haecker, Peter Jr. and William Dennis, and two great-great-grandchildren, Jade and Arianna Mullen. A sister, Lillian Locke, died in 1986.
