Rita Georgianna Kateley, 84, of 24 Kateley Lane died Tuesday at North Adams Commons. Born in North Adams on April 24, 1921, daughter of Joseph A. and Arthemise Stringer Chouinard, she was a 1938 graduate of the Commercial School at Notre Dame School. She also attended the former Bliss Business College. Mrs. Kateley was last employed by West End Auto Body Co. until retiring in 1991. She first worked at the former Noel Incorporated Co., and then as the billing clerk at the former H.W. Clark Biscuit Co. for 12 years until it ceased operations. She then worked as a traffic manager for the former Strong-Hewitt Woolens Mill in Clarksburg until it closed in 1965. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and later of Our Lady of Mercy Church. Her husband, Arthur G. Kateley, whom she married Sept. 9, 1967, died Dec. 22, 1981. She leaves a stepdaughter, Doris Trimarchi of Clarksburg; a stepson, Robert Kateley of North Adams; seven step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren and a step-great-great-great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Rita Georgianna (Chouinard) Kateley will be celebrated Friday at 11 at Our Lady of Mercy Church on State Road. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for Our Lady of Mercy Church through the funeral home. Survivors include, a step-daughter-in-law, Sylvia Kateley, and a step son-in-law, Milano Trimarchi, and a Goddaughter, Aubree Gageant, who was also her caregiver. She was predeceased by two sisters and five brothers, Veleda Caza, Agnes Chretien, Armand, Alphonse, Arthur, Albert and Alfred Chouinard.
