Erina "Jane" Shuts

Erina "Jane" Shuts, 75, of Berkshire School Road died Monday evening at home. Born in Sheffield on June 5, 1930, daughter of Rudolf Peter and Paulina Bartholomew Straleau, she was a graduate of the former Sheffield High School, where she was the accompanist, playing the piano and organ. She also graduated from Bay Path Junior College in East Longmeadow in 1950. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Shuts was employed as a legal secretary for Sidney Q. Curtiss law firm during the 1950s. She was a member of Old Parish Church. She enjoyed working in her garden. She married William O. Shuts on Aug. 12, 1950, at Old Parish Church. They were married for 36 years until Mr. Shuts died in 1999. She leaves two daughters, Martha W. Williamson of Sheffield and Lizabeth M. Cornelio of North Sutton, N.H.; a son, Peter W. Shuts of Auburn; a sister, Laura S. Becker of Lynnfield, seven grandchildren and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Jean Straleau Shuts of Sheffield will be Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at noon at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by the Rev. Fran Ruthven, pastor of Old Parish Church in Sheffield. Burial will follow in Sheffield Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 until the time of the service. Jean is survived by two sons-in-law, Barry Williamson and Michael Cornelio; daughter-in-law, Beth; seven grandchildren, Tricia Williamson, Trevor Williamson and his wife, Melanie, Kristie and Jason Shuts, Joseph, William and Jacob Cornelio, and her great-grandson, Jacob Williamson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Old Parish Church through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
