Frances Anderson Jerome

Frances Anderson Jerome, 97, of Hendersonville, N.C., formerly of Sheffield, died Tuesday Dec. 6, 2005 at Carolina Village Health Center in Hendersonville, N.C. Born in Caledonia, N.Y., on March 15, 1908, daughter of Dr. Ludo Little Zimmer and Mabel Bradley Zimmer, she had also resided in Ohio, Michigan, Rockville Centre, N.Y., Sheffield, Waynesville, N.C., and Bel Air Bluffs, Fla., prior to locating to Hendersonville in 1994. She married Ivan H. Anderson in 1931 and located to Rockville Centre where she was a director of volunteers at the South Nassau Communities Hospital. In 1961 she moved to Sheffield where she was a member of Old Parish Church and became the owner and innkeeper of the Ivanhoe Country House. She continued in this capacity until 1969. She was a member of First Congregational Church of Hendersonville. Following the death of her first husband, she later married and survived two husbands, Henry E. Rossell and Alan J. Jerome. She leaves a daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Hamilton-Laselle of Sunset Beach, N.C., and Killington, Vt.; a sister, June Zimmer Hoffmann of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert B. Anderson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at Carolina Village Hall. The Rev. David G. Kelly will officiate. Burial will take place in Sheffield at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 2564, Hendersonville, NC 28793 or to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 2395, Hendersonville, NC 28793. She was also predeceased by four brothers and one sister. She leaves a son-in-law, Bryan Laselle of Sunset Beach, N.C., and Killington, Vt.; daughter-in-law, Catherine Anderson of Eden Prairie, Minn.; brother-in-law, Charles McNamara and his wife, Bette, of Sheffield; sister-in-law, Jane Ann Howard of Stanwood, Mich.; 14 nieces and nephews, and 35 great- and great-great nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude for the care and compassion given by Leshea Ward of Hendersonville, the staffs at the care and health centers of Carolina Village, and to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care.
