R. Bruce Andrews

R. Bruce Andrews, 86, of 41 Church St. died Tuesday at his home. Born in Lee on Nov. 7, 1919, son of William F. and Elizabeth Cheney Andrews, he was educated in the Lee schools and was a 1937 graduate of Lee High School. After serving in the merchant marine, he went back to work in 1940 for the former Smith Paper Co. in Lee, which later became Kimberly Clark Corp. He worked there for 41 years in various management positions, serving the last 11 years as personnel manager, retiring in 1980. Mr. Andrews and his wife, the former Florence E. Weed, were married May 10, 1942. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Kathleen M. Gilbert of Agawam; a sister, Marion C. Andrews of Lee; two grandsons, and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for R. Bruce Andrews, who died Jan. 10, 2006, will be held Friday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Stockbridge with the Rev. Mark Hatch, interim rector, and the Rev. Tad Evans, retired rector of St. Paul's, officiating. Burial will follow in Stockbridge Cemetery. Visiting hours at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME will be today from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. He leaves his grandson, Andrew, and his wife, Melissa, his grandson, Daniel, and his fiancee, Jennifer. He also leaves his great-grandson, Jacob, and his great-granddaughter, Brianna, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, William and Hartwell, and his sister, Marcia Sparks.
