Bertha Vaughan Burdick, 88

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Bertha Vaughan Burdick, 88, of 100 Cliff St. died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in North Adams on Oct. 11, 1917, daughter of Harry and Mary Ganovazo Salavantis, she attended local schools. Mrs. Burdick worked in several departments at the former Sprague Electric Co. until her retirement in 1970. Before that, she worked at her father's store, the former River Street Package Store. She and her husband, John H. Burdick, were married Aug. 12, 1961. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Richard C. Vaughan of North Adams; two brothers, Williams Salavantis of Alexandria, Va., and Stanley Salavantis of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, George and John Salavantis, and by a sister, Dena Lekas. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral and burial for Mrs. Burdick in Southview Cemetery will be private. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice through AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
