Blanca Hilda Erazo Flamenco

Blanca Hilda Erazo Flamenco, 73, of 12 Chase Ave. died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after a brief illness. Born in Progreso, Yoro, Honduras on Jan. 12, 1932, daughter of Antonio Erazo Paz and Argentina Galo Ortiz, she attended schools in Honduras. While in Honduras, she worked as a rural teacher, teaching underprivileged children how to read and write. She emigrated to the United States with her family in 1972, and was employed by the former Hunter Machine Company, where she helped manufacture army products until the company ceased operations. She last worked cleaning houses and selling crafts. Mrs. Flamenco was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church. She was a member and organizer of "Near Honduras," a small organization established to help rebuild Honduras after Hurricane Mitch. She loved to sing, pray, go for walks and spend time with her family and her pets. Her husband of 34 years, Jose Antonio Flamenco Aguilar, whom she married February 5, 1953, died on May 30, 1987. She leaves two sons, Marco Antonio Flamenco and Rene de Jesus Flamenco, both of North Adams; her niece and primary caregiver, Natalia A. Multunas, of Castleton, N.Y.; two brothers, Antonio Erazo Galo of Louisiana and Jose Fernando Erazo Galo of Pasadena, Calif.; four sisters, Alba Georgina Erazo Galo of Pasadena, Calif., Anapaulina Erazo Galo of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Martha Alejandrina Erazo Galo of Guatemala, and Magda Argentina Erazo Galo of Tegucigalpa, Honduras; three grandsons, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Jose Antonio Flamenco and Oscar Flamenco, who died soon after birth. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral Services for Blanca Hilda Erazo Flamenco, who died Jan. 11, 2006, will be held on Monday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. in the Bethel Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. Dennis Castella, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Blanca's memory may be made to the Bethel Pentecostal Church, 55 Harding Ave., North Adams, MA 01247. AUGE-SANS SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., is in charge of arrangements. She leaves three grandsons, Jose Rene Corea of Calif. and Joshua Multunas and Christian Multunas of Castleton, N.Y. She was also predeceased by a brother, Edgardo Humberto Erazo Galo.
