Shirley A. Wells, 70, of Francis Avenue died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Alford on May 4, 1935, daughter of Richard and Gretrude Wheller Dellea, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Roe-Jan High School in Hillsdale, N.Y. Mrs. Wells was a longtime proofreader at Kwik Print and at Shoppers Guide, retiring in 2004. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church and a member of the former Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed going to tag sales. She and her husband, Leo H. Wells, were married at St. Peter's Church on Oct. 4, 1958. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Michael Wells of Hinsdale and Jonathan Wells of Great Barrington; a daughter, Maryanne Regan of Pittsfield; three sisters, Martha Wool, Barbara Muller and Caroline Arienti, all of Great Barrington; two brothers, Richard Dellea of Great Barrington and Paul Dellea of Hillsdale, N.Y., and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Shirley Wells of Great Barrington, who died Jan. 22, 2006, will be celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at 1 at St. Peter's Catholic Church by the Rev. Shaun O'Connor, MIC, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends tomorrow, Jan. 24, from 4 to 7 at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make memorial contributions in Shirley's name to HospiceCare in the Berkshires through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
