Stella Oparowski

Stella Oparowski, 79, of 139 Willow Cove Road died Thursday at home. Born in Adams on Sept. 29, 1926, daughter of Walter and Tekla Musialek Jzyk, she attended schools there. She moved to Cheshire 22 years ago. Mrs. Oparowski was a sewing machine operator at the former Waverly Fabrics in Adams, retiring in 1990. Before that, she had worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates in Adams since the age of 16. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. She enjoyed cooking, vegetable gardening, sewing and camping. She and her husband, Matthew J. "Mickey" Oparowski, would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary May 10. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, William J. Oparowski of Chicopee; a daughter, Nancy Lou Oparowski of Cheshire; two brothers, John Jzyk of Vernon, Conn., and Stanley Jzyk of Glendale, Ariz.; two grandsons, and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Stella Oparowski, who died Thurday, Jan. 26, 2006, will be held at a date to be announced in the spring. Burial will be in Cheshire Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire Inc. or to St. Mary of the Assumption Church through AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220, which is in charge of arrangements. She leaves a daughter-in-law, Lynn Oparowski of Chicopee; two grandsons, Shaun Oparowski of Bedford, N.H. and Todd W. Oparowski of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; a granddaughter-in-law, Molly McCarthy; two great grandchildren, Cormac and Hannah, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Chester, Walter "Bill," Antoni and Frank Jzyk; three stepbrothers, Thaddeus, Stephen and Fred Jzyk; and by a stepsister, Sister Mary Alberta (Jennie Jzyk).
