Robert Theodore Posey

Robert Theodore Posey, 62, of Plymouth Lane died Sunday evening at home. Born in Fall River on May 29, 1943, son of Theodore and Azilda Yokel Posey, he graduated from Monsignor Prevost High School. He attended Bentley College in Boston and Bryant College in Rhode Island. In 1968, he moved to Greenfield, where he began his career in radio at WHAI. In 1970, he moved to Berkshire County, where he worked at WMNB in North Adams. He eventually settled in Sheffield, working first at WSBS in Great Barrington, then at WBEC in Pittsfield, WKZE in Sharon, Conn., and WTIC in Hartford, Conn. He was a play-by-play announcer for the Pittsfield Mets, a contributor to the former Berkshire Courier and, most recently, a copy editor for the Lakeville Journal in Connecticut. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Church. He and his wife, the former Katherine A. Long, were married Sept. 3, 1962, at St. Patrick's Church in Fall River. Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Steven Posey of Sheffield, Robert Posey of New Marlborough, Michael Posey of Pittsburgh and John Posey of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, Arthur Posey of Wayland, and nine grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Robert T. Posey will be celebrated Thursday at 11 at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield by the Rev. John Lis. Burial will follow in Our Lady of the Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 7 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington. Contributions in Robert's memory may be made to the Berkshire County Visiting Nurse Association, HospiceCare in the Berkshires or Our Lady of the Valley Church through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He leaves three daughters-in-law, Dawn, Jennifer and Lisa Posey; a sister-in-law, Jean Flemming, and his nine beloved grandchildren, Sierra, Abigail, Andrew, Aaron, David, Mallory, Madison, Miranda and Milan. Robert was a faithful servant of God through the Roman Catholic Church and a man of the highest personal integrity. Robert will forever be remembered as a dedicated, devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
