Elizabeth Pearl Young

Elizabeth Pearl Young, 88, of 3246 Main St. died Tuesday at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, where she has lived since Oct. 8, 2004. Born on May 23, 1917, in Leicester, daughter of Amos E. and Elizabeth M. Cherry Gallant, she attended schools in Worcester and in Pittsfield. She had lived in Becket since 1934. Mrs. Young was a nurse's aide at the former Dalton Nursing Home and the former Mapleview Nursing Home in Washington for many years, retiring in 1983. She was a communicant of Saint Matthew's Church in Becket. Her husband, Francis E. Young Sr., whom she married on July 3, 1934, died Aug. 11, 1996. She leaves two sons, Francis E. "Hap" Young Jr. of Yuma, Ariz., and David A. Young of Becket; a daughter, Carole A. Drosehn of Dalton; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private services for Elizabeth Pearl Young, who died Jan. 31, 2006, will be held at the convenience of the family in the spring. There are no calling hours. Memorials in her memory may be made to HospiceCare of The Berkshires in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, MA 01226, which is handling the arrangements. Mrs. Young will be lovingly missed by two daughters-in-law, Faye and Patricia Young, and by a son-in-law, Bruce Drosehn. She was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel Drosehn, a great-grandson, James Fitch, a brother, Edward Gallant, and a sister, Dorothy Wood.
