John W. Palomba

John W. Palomba, 68, of 16 Depot St., Housatonic, died Saturday at home. Born in Waterbury, Conn., on April 8, 1937, son of the late Rocco and Jane Kirdzik Palomba, he lived in Oakville, Conn., and was in the first graduating class of Warren F. Kaynor Technical High School in 1956. He served in the Navy on the USS Fiske 842 destroyer. Mr. Palomba worked at the former Jug End Resort in Egremont as a recreational director for 15 years. He then managed Berkshire Motor Inn and the Cove Restaurant before buying the Touch of Class Restaurant, which he owned until his retirement. He was a member of Oakville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7330 and recently received his 40-year pin. He leaves a brother George J. Palomba of Oakville. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for John W. Palomba will be Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at 10 from MAIORANO FUNERAL HOME, 95 Willow St., Waterbury, Conn., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville, Conn., at 11. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown, Conn. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow from 5 to 8. Memorial contributions to: Christmas for Children, c/o Gloria Hadsell Rising Dale Café, 290 Park St., Great Barrington, MA 02130. Mr. Palomba also leaves a sister-in-law, Mona Palomba, and several nieces and nephews, including Georgeann L. Leclerc, Dainette L. Lukos and Bryan J. Palomba, all of Oakville; a great-niece; two great-nephews and a great-great niece. A brother, Robert M. Palomba is deceased.
