Lois B. Keefner

Lois B. Keefner, 75, of Main Street died Thursday at home. Born in Great Barrington on May 16, 1930, daughter of Neil E. and Helen Hamm Taggart, she was educated in local schools. Mrs. Keefner worked for many years at Price Chopper as a cake decorator. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking. Her husband, John Joseph Keefner, whom she married Sept. 7, 1947, in Copake, N.Y., died in 1995. She leaves a son, Mark Keefner of Housatonic; three daughters, Susan Simonelli of Housatonic, Melody Hadley of Lee and Linda Steinberg of Great Barrington; a brother, Bruce Taggart of Great Barrington; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The family of Lois B. Keefner, who died Feb. 9, 2006, will receive friends Monday from 4 to 7 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, Great Barrington. The Rev. Charles VanAusdall, pastor of First Congregational Church in Great Barrington will conduct a Service of Remembrance during the visitation hours. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy in Lois' memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230-1815. She leaves six grandchildren, Christopher and Melonie Keefner, Amanda and Johnathan Hadley, Terra Burns and Lisa Plumb, and three great-grandchildren, Nathan Simonelli, Kimberly Plumb and Brandy Burns. She was predeceased by a brother and a sister.
